Operating from its original location at 129 Dodge Street in Beverly, MA, Leslie Ray Insurance, Inc., was founded by Leslie S. Ray in 1954.

Our History
It was 1954 when 25-year-old Les Ray walked into a North Beverly real estate office and asked if he could rent a desk from which he could sell insurance. Knocking on neighborhood doors, Les built a humble but growing customer base while his wife Marcia helped by answering the telephone and typing insurance polices. Les also sold real estate and became more and more active in the Beverly business community.
Gradually the insurance business began to thrive and there was less and less room in both the building and in Les’s busy schedule for real estate. Les bought the building and eventually those surrounding it. The agency kept growing and the need for space kept growing too. In 1982 he developed the business complex that still houses the insurance agency.
Current agency president Richard Jones joined the agency in 1980 and helped the commercial insurance division at Leslie S. Ray Insurance Agency thrive. David Ray joined the team in 1987 and Diane Jones, Personal Lines Manager, came on board in 1998. Elaine Libby, Commercial Lines Manager, has also been an important member of agency for over 20 years. The business has grown steadily due mainly to a strong dedication to its loyal customer base.
Today the Leslie S. Ray Insurance Agency has a staff of 15 employees, dedicated to providing our new and existing clients with superior customer service. We have carefully selected the insurance carriers that we partner with, and our goal is always to listen carefully to our customers needs while helping them to maximize the value of their insurance investment.
